It was a fantastic weekend for Comets Seniors, with both the Regional Squad and Kent League Squad securing impressive victories in two strong team performances.
Regional Squad 49–45 Beacons
On Saturday, the Regional Squad welcomed newly promoted Beacons for a closely contested home match. Comets showed great determination and composure throughout, holding on to secure a well-deserved 49–45 victory.
After a close opening quarter, Comets began to pull away in the second, making the most of their centre passes and applying strong defensive pressure. The game tightened again in the final quarter, but the team remained composed, worked hard to retain possession and did enough to secure the win.
Kent League 47–33 New Edition
On Sunday, the Kent League team travelled to Bromley to face New Edition, producing an excellent performance to come away with a convincing 47–33 win.
The Comets made a flying start, taking an early eight-goal lead and finishing the first quarter 13–9 ahead. They remained calm, kept their heads high and continued to build momentum, extending their advantage to 25–15 at half-time.
The shooters worked brilliantly, with different combinations giving their all and converting the opportunities created by the team. Strong centre-court play helped the attack reset, reposition and create scoring opportunities, while excellent drives and movement in and around the D kept the opposition under pressure.
Defensively, the Comets were equally impressive. The defence stayed tight, applying pressure and forcing numerous reset balls. The defensive unit remained agile and reactive in the D, picking off important interceptions and rebounds while maintaining their stamina throughout the game.
The support from the bench was also fantastic, with constant encouragement helping to keep the players motivated and positive on court from start to finish.
Across both matches, the Comets showed real determination, teamwork and resilience. It was a fantastic weekend for a squad combining new and experienced players, with everyone working together and contributing to two well-deserved victories.
A brilliant weekend for the Seniors — congratulations to everyone involved!
