Fresh back from her travels in New Zealand, George returned to deliver the fourth session of our popular summer training programme, bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm to another fantastic session on court.
This week's focus was all about shooting and attacking play, with players working through a variety of drills designed to improve shooting accuracy, movement in and around the circle, and attacking combinations to create opportunities for the shooter. Although the temperatures were a little cooler than in recent weeks, the effort and commitment from everyone certainly wasn't, with all players working hard throughout the session to develop their skills.
The session concluded with some match play, giving everyone the opportunity to put the day's learning into practice. Players were encouraged to combine the attacking principles introduced by George with the defensive techniques previously covered by Mikki and the attacking drills from Suzie over recent weeks. It was great to see so many players applying what they have learned across the entire summer programme in a game situation.
George has also been a regular at our winter training sessions, where she has worked closely with our senior players to help develop their game and build confidence across the squad. Her continued support and expertise have been invaluable, and it's always a pleasure to welcome her back to Comets.
Next week sees Round 5, the final session of our summer training series. After that, we're excited to round off the programme with our Open Masterclass on Sunday 26 July, which is open to players of all ages and abilities.
If you'd like to join us for the Masterclass, please visit our website for booking details or email cometsmembership@gmail.com to reserve your place. We look forward to seeing you there!
