Comets 50 – 52 Wealden
Sunday 7th September

The Comets Netball County team opened their season with a thrilling encounter against Wealden, eventually falling just short in a 50–52 contest.

Wealden got off to a strong start, capitalising on a couple of early turnovers in defence to establish a 14–9 lead at the end of the first quarter. From then on, the game became a tightly contested battle.

In both the second and third quarters, Wealden managed to pull away by as many as seven goals, but Comets showed real determination. Strong defensive pressure created turnovers, and with accurate shooting from across the circle, the team continued to claw their way back. Their persistence paid off as they drew the second quarter (12–12) and edged the third (15–13).

With momentum on their side, Comets pushed hard in the final quarter, once again winning the quarter 14–13. Despite their late surge, the early deficit proved decisive, and the match closed at 50–52 in Wealden’s favour.

Although the result didn’t go their way, Comets can be proud of a resilient team performance to kick off the season. Congratulations to Sophie, who was named Player of the Match and Amy CP for Players player of the match???
